The Masingita Group of Companies was founded by Mike Nkuna in 1983 and has been involved in property development, construction and property management since 1989. Focused within but not limited to the urban and suburban areas, the company has primarily targeted townships and rural areas of the Republic of South Africa with the primary aim of local and rural economic development. Masingita Group of Companies prides itself with the achievement of reversing the demeaning trend of substandard rural development and restoring the dignity of black communities through the development of commercial infrastructure which was historically exclusive to urban areas. Since its establishment, Masingita Group of Companies has developed six commercial/retail properties on its own and a further four through partnership with Nedbank to fulfil Nedbank's rural retail development requirements. Masingita Group of Companies has also acquired franchises in various retail filling station brands and continues to operate these facilities. These are one Exel Garage in Malamulele, one Shell Garage in Giyani, one BP Garage and one Shell Garage in Soweto all located in township areas.
